Warrior Stories

You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was Dostoevsky and Dickens who taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, or who ever had been alive. Only if we face these open wounds in ourselves can we understand them in other people.  James Baldwin (1963)

M A N Z is an advocate for the sharing of mental health lived experience stories.  We have all gained invaluable knowledge, hope and connection from reading and listening to other people's Warrior stories.  Often, people experiencing mental distress or who have been diagnosed with a mental 'illness' are considered somewhat fragile, deficient, impaired and sometimes even dangerous.  It's crucial for recovery that we shift these misinformed conceptions and move towards a more accurate understanding.  One which recognises and validates the resilience, resourcefulness, fortitude and courage people draw upon to survive through suffering.  And the depths into despair and sometimes terrifying spaces experienced through mental distress.  We are Warriors and have much Wisdom to share.  M A N Z would like to provide a platform for the sharing of these stories.  If you would like to submit your Warrior story please complete the form below.  Anonymous submissions welcome :)
